Family paddle to Isfield Weir
On Monday we paddled all 3 kids and a picnic to Isfield Weir from Barcombe Mills.
We used our Red Paddle Co Sport 11", Two Bare Feet 10"10 and our Ocean Kayak Malibu 2 XL
Loaded with a picnic, dry bags for towels and change of clothes for the kids, also happily managed to fit my Red Original Deck bag nicely on my Kayak.
The paddle starts at Barcombe Mills which is a lovely spot for a paddle and swim.
We followed the river up under this very low bridge all the way to the sluice gate (around 1 mile up)
When at the sluice gate, you need to get out and re enter the river on the other side near The Anchor Inn.
In a field with a load of cows watching a helicopter take off on the other side.
The following stretch of river is just over 2 miles to Isfield.
This part is a really nice paddle, there are a couple of rope swings hanging over the river and further up lots of low overhanging trees and old submerged logs and branches you need to keep your eyes out for.
Finally reaching Isfield Weir for a picnic and run around. Chilled out here for a while before heading back.
In total the whole paddle was 6.5 miles. The kids really enjoyed it, which makes everything a lot easier.
I had hoped to get a few nice photos of the weir, but unfortunately not many great or accessible locations. Will however head up again for some more attempts.
