First photos with my GoPro hero 12
During a recent holiday, as always, I brought along my GoPro Hero 8 to capture family memories.
Its waterproof design makes it perfect for poolside fun. Unfortunately, at some point, the GoPro must have dropped without me noticing, cracking the screen. I unknowingly took it into the pool, where water seeped through the damaged screen, causing damage. Although it eventually dried out, the touchscreen became very temperamental.
Upon returning home, I decided it was time for an upgrade. With the launch of the new GoPro Hero 13, I was fortunate to find a few good deals. Given that I also use the GoPro for vlogging on my YouTube channel, being without one for too long simply wasn’t an option.
I have had a bit of a break from vlogging over the summer, but plan on getting back out soon.
GoPro cameras are primarily designed for filming rather than photography, but I still enjoy having one with me to capture spontaneous moments when I'm out and about. Their small, rugged design makes them the perfect companion.
When my new GoPro hero 12 arrived, I spent some time getting familiar with it before taking it on a quick family trip to Hastings. While the kids were occupied, I wandered down to the seafront to capture some images of the fishing boats along the beach.
All the photos were shot in jpeg, using GoPro's SuperPhoto option.
I did also tweak the photos in lightroom.
Ideally with editing the photos, shooting in RAW would have been the better option.
I’m really pleased with how the new GoPro performed on this little outing. The photos came out great, capturing the essence of the Hastings seafront. It’s a reminder that even though GoPros are known for their video capabilities, they can also deliver some fantastic stills.
I enjoy the challenge of capturing images within certain limitations. It's one of the things that draws me to pinhole photography, and using a GoPro with its fixed extreme wide-angle lens is just as fun and challenging.
If you’ve ever captured memorable moments with a GoPro or have any tips on getting the most out of one, I’d love to hear from you in the comments. Stay tuned for more adventures and photography tips on the blog!
