2017 Photography Challenges
The New year is fast approaching and a time to set some new challenges and goals for 2017.
The last couple of years I have not had a great deal of time to get out much with my camera. It has been spent bringing up our young family (now have a 9 year old Dog, 4 year old daughter, 2 year old son and a 5 month old son), buying our 1st home in 2015 and getting all/some of the work needed done, also work a normal a 40+ hours a week job, so as you can imagine free time can be hard to come by.
Now life feels like it has finally settled into a new manic type of normal, it seems a good time to push more with my photography again.
So I have set myself some challenges/changes I need to make for the time ahead.
Get Out More
Its easy to say, but I need to push myself, even if the kids did decide to bundle me at 3am.
Shoot More Film
I have shot a lot of film throughout 2016, but plan on shooting much more in 2017, as much as I love colour and have really enjoyed shooting and developing Fuji Velvia, I really want to push myself with B&W film more, experimenting with different filters and types of film.
365 Project
Been meaning to do one of these for years, but in this day and age, we take photos everyday with our phones and never really found the whole thing very appealing/creative, so I'm planning on trying this 365 project with disposable cameras...mostly due to the lack of/no creative control you have with the camera settings, they are easy to carry everywhere and it should hopefully produce some interesting results...maybe.
Manage My Social Media Time Better
If I gave up photography tomorrow, I would happily delete Facebook, Twitter and all the other stuff that goes with it, but I think its great for photography, but it is so easy to get sucked into the junk posted on your newsfeed and I can easily spend an evening after the kids are in bed strolling though junk and then suddenly realising I only had a few photos bit to sort out originally, then either sitting up late or first thing in the morning trying to catch up. So I got to do what I got to do, then get of the computer and achieve challenge 1, Get Out More. Less time on the computer and more time out with my camera.
Help a Charity Out with My Photography
Again, Been meaning to do this for years, but finally have some ideas... more on this at some point in 2017
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR :)
