It’s been a busy week. Getting back to work after almost 2 weeks away is always a bit of a jolt and been a bit stressful, between that and family life, evenings have been all about slowly working through the small mountain of film I brought back from the Lake District.
Most of it’s now scanned.
The drying box has been in regular use.
Most of it’s now scanned.
The drying box has been in regular use.
The scanner’s barely had a break.
And tonight, I finally developed the last two rolls of Kodak Gold 200 🎉🥳
It was a quiet little moment—pulling those final rolls from the tank, rinsing them, and hanging them up to dry. A strange mix of relief and satisfaction. I’d set myself the goal of having all the film developed by the weekend so I could move into the next stage: editing, scanning clean-up, and building the final video.
Film is funny like that. You can come back from a trip with a head full of ideas, images you hope you’ve captured, and then spend days just coaxing them into the light—one development session at a time.
But the finish line is in sight.
There’s still scanning to complete and possible hours of video to edit down. And as those last hang to dry, I can finally start to look at the work as a whole and begin the creative process all over again: selecting, sequencing, and sharing.
Almost there.
