A Big Thank You to Sebastian Kölbel

A few days after returning from the Link District, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Sebastian Kölbel — a subscriber of my YouTube channel visiting from Germany. He was travelling along the south coast of the UK and made a stop in Sussex, reaching out to see if we could meet up. I’m so glad he did!

Despite being a little worn out from travelling myself and slowly working through a mountain of undeveloped film at home, it was such a refreshing break to get out, stretch the legs, and enjoy some good conversation with a fellow pinhole photography enthusiast.

We headed down to Cuckmere Haven to explore the area and take in the iconic view of the Seven Sisters. It was a grey, overcast day — a bit of a letdown after all the sunshine we’d been having — but still beautiful in its own moody way. I had my RealitySoSubtle 6x17 loaded with Kodak Gold 200, which maybe wasn’t the ideal film stock for the lighting, but it was what I had with me.

We wandered along the cliff edge, chatted about photography and travel, made our way to the beach, and looped back before driving around to Seaford, discovering a few new shooting spots along the way. It was a relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

To top it off, Sebastian generously gifted me some film — which I’m genuinely excited to start working through. A big, big thank you again, Sebastian!

I haven’t yet developed the photos from our meetup, but I hope to share them with you in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned!
