Day 4 — Waterfalls, Stone Circles, and Lost Light

After a slow start—thanks to the rain and two very tired kids who slept in until 9:30—we finally made our way out. First stop: Aira Force Waterfall, hoping to beat the weekend rush (even if we are technically part of it). The walk up was as beautiful as ever, and the falls didn’t disappoint.
I managed a frame with the RealitySoSubtle 6x6, though nearly lost it over the edge in the process. I also captured a shot with the Mania 4x5, trying to make the most of what light there was under the canopy.

From there, we headed to Castlerigg Stone Circle. It was special being back—last time I stood there was 15 years ago, celebrating our first wedding anniversary with my wife and a much younger Bugzy, our dog, who we sadly lost a couple of years ago. That memory hit me a bit harder than expected.
I took a few shots with the Mania, including testing the split panoramic mode for the first time. It uses two sheets of film per exposure, so I’ve been saving it for the right moments—this felt like one.
We had planned to carry on into Keswick afterward, but traffic was a nightmare (yes, we were the traffic). We ended up crawling between full car parks and stunning views we couldn’t stop to photograph. Eventually, frustration got the better of us, so we headed back to camp, a long slow drive weaving around tight winding roads and up one called "The struggle" and the van did struggle. Eventually back at the site to decompressed with chocolate bar and energy drink, not good I know.
